So I went for a very simple composition, looking down as it swam across the sand.’ The Bahamas is one of the few places where sharks have not been decimated by the shark-fin-soup trade – fins are now worth more than $700 a kilogramme. Caribbean reef sharks used to be common throughout the tropical west Atlantic Ocean, but are now only found in a few locations. This species mainly feeds on reef fish and octopus and is a fast and agile hunter.
