Fall in the Smokey Mountains... TN 116 - a nice drive, fewer cars than Cades Cove.
Kristi is driving, I'm hanging out the window trying to get focused and good angles. I'm sure it would have been a strange sight - a big fat dude hanging out the window of a Suburban with a large camera coming out of his face. The upside it she didn't wipe me off on any of the branches. LOL There just weren't any places to pull off (or really walk) on this road, but it was very pretty and colorful.
The speed varied between 20 and 45mph - depending on the grade and visibility. It was about a 2 hour drive. Most of the trip had an OLD set of railroad tracks next to the road. I guess this was once a "main highway" (before Interstate 75) going to Kentucky. Not sure. Just know that it was very pretty... and quite interesting. The kids' (5 were with us on this journey) were joking about not being able to go to school if they lived there. I'm sure a fantasy of theirs. hehehe
